Classic Motor Vehicle Auction

A Classic Motor Vehicle Auction is to allow persons to hold an auction of classic motor vehicles to the general public. A classic motor vehicle is a motor vehicle that is over 26 years old.

Requirements

  • A request to hold a classic motor vehicle auction must be submitted requesting the Registrar’s approval not less than 30 days before the planned opening date of the auction.
  • The auction may not last more than two days.
  • No more than four auctions may be held within a 12- month period.
  • The auction must be conducted by the auction services of an auction firm or a licensed auction owner and a licensed auctioneer.

NOTE: A licensed motor vehicle dealer does not need to request approval for a classic motor vehicle auction for hir oe her own motor vehicles; however the auction must be conducted by the auction services of an auction firm or a licensed auction owner and a licensed auctioneer.
